Why? Because the marriage equality movement is largely predicated on the notion that us queers are just like “everyone else,” meaning mostly white, mostly middle-class or up, gender conforming monogamists. Watching the Bill Moyers interview with Rev. Jeremiah Wright - in a lot of ways, all it's been so far is two people of faith discussing faith, (including more of that sermon than I've seen/heard on CNN or anyplace else, with an explanat history ion to boot!) and their place in America today. No hostile, hateful stuff, no Photoshopping/Audio Hijacking/sound-biting of a man's words for the news cycle... just a dialogue.
