I have many black friends, and have been getting close to one in particular. He maintains that now that Obama has won, there will be a significant backlash against blacks. I am afraid that he is right.
How cringing it is for me to see such hate and intolerance being openly expressed in my birthstate. CA often leads the way for the rest of the nation in social norms and legislation. I am deeply disappointed, and so are many of my CA friends--- married heterosexuals who are absolutely pissed that Prop 8 passed.
My friend has recently had to push back against the racism he experiences at work here in MN. How much worse will it get, when that's the baseline he deals with?
