You're not the only one who feels that way. Queers seem to be split on the issue, between the assimilationist and separatist factions. A lot of my radical faerie friends say that they don't support gay marriage because they oppose the institution of state-sponsored marriage in the first place.
Me, I understand the argument against it, but it comes down to a matter of fairness to me. If straights should be allowed to get married, so should we. Personally, if I met the right guy, I'd get married. So long as he understood I would want to be polyamorous.
Of course, after we all have marriage rights, then we can dismantle the institution... ;-)
